On this page I tell more about myself in the different stages of my life. And of course why I started this website 🙂
0 – 18 years | Growing up and first interest in the tech space
I was born on December 21, 1994, in Breda, a city in the southern part of the Netherlands. I had a great time growing up in this city.
During my days in elementary school, I loved playing soccer outside with friends after school. We could do this for entire days.
Somewhat later, in 2001, the first Xbox came out. With my friends, we played a lot of soccer and shooter games. For the first time, I realized my interest in technology development. We were all very fanatical about the video games we played. I was eager to win as well, so I could spend hours finding and testing the best gaming settings.
At the end of my high school days, we did not play many video games anymore. However, my interest in doing something in the technology or gaming space remained.Â
19 – 22 years | Wrong study choice and rethinking my path
I graduated from high school and I went to college. After months of orientation, I still didn’t quite know what I wanted to study. Ideally, I wanted to study something broad such as Business Administration or Marketing and Business Management. However, I did not study Economics in high school and therefore I was advised not to choose such a study.
I chose to study Human Resource Science in Tilburg, a city located 30 kilometers from Breda. I remember I was not sure with this choice. But, I liked the social oriented courses and wanted to give it a shot. I lived in Tilburg for 1.5 years and as time passed by, the study and city began to dislike me more and more. After two years, I quit this study.
I took a gap year and moved back to Breda. At that moment, I was a bit lost and did not know what the best thing was to do. Try a new study? But which study then? Or maybe take a job and see it from there.
23 – 25 years | New start and learning web design
I decided to work at a car dealer for one year and take some time to make a good decision for the future. In Tilburg, the university offered me to talk with a career coach. I planned multiple conversations and at the end of the process, the study of Marketing and Business Management in Breda came out at number one.
I took an eligibility test and was subsequently admitted to the program. The courses gave me pleasure and I had a good time. In the third year of this study, the corona pandemic erupted. Obviously, there was not much to do and I was looking for something new to learn.
My interest in doing something in the tech space was still there. Besides the fact that I thought it would be fun to build a website, I also thought this was a valuable skill to learn. I watched hours of Youtube tutorials to learn the basics of WordPress, building pages, and SEO.
One of my best friends told me that he knew a jeweler who had an outdated website and would like a new one. I planned an introductory conversation with the jeweler and I was allowed to build a new website. It took me a year to build the website and learned a lot along the way. 26 – 28 years | First ‘real’ job and the launch of this website
I finished my Bsc Marketing and Business Management and decided to study for my Msc Strategic Management. I was going to do this again in Tilburg. The study took 1.5 years, it went well for me and I graduated on the first of June 2023.
A few days later in June, I started my first ‘real’ job since I graduated from college. I work at a Dutch bank and I have a great time with my colleagues. It is a great place to develop myself professionally and personally.
Besides working, I still wanted to do something with my web design skills and my interest in tech development. Over the past years, developments in artificial intelligence have particularly caught my interest.
So, I decided to combine these two interests and it resulted in this website. I am fascinated by how fast developments in artificial intelligence follow one another. I find it especially interesting to discover how new AI tools can help companies work more effectively.
And that’s what I will mainly write about on this website: New AI tools that were launched, how to use them, and the latest trends of artificial intelligence in different industries.
Some of my articles are based on scientific research. On the one hand, this is a strong source of information. On the other hand, I try to distribute the great findings of researchers to a wider audience.
